Owner of the car, Leon Prevost, wants ESP Racing to go to the next level of racing in 2007. Testing, testing and more testing is the only way to know what the car will really do. Neil has changed a few things and we are now starting to get a handle of it again. Our season is so short in Edmonton that we must take advantage of any nice weather given to us for test days.

On Aug. 27th, we were at Castrol Raceway testing and on our run we tossed the blower belt at the 1000 ft. mark, then coasted past the finish line at 6.01 seconds.

Then on Sept. 10th, we ran the run of our lives. The car left hard and kept pulling all the way down. Everyone thought that it was a quicker run than our 5.74 we ran last fall. Unfortunately the clocks failed and we did not get a time slip.

We also would like to thank Bernie Fedderly for stopping by on Sun. Sept.10th. He is a true ambassador for the sport of Drag Racing. You could not find a nicer man anywhere, and for him to come see us on that day was over and above any expectations. I know that Neil was proud, excited and maybe a little nervous running in front of Bernie but he did himself and the team proud. Two more weekends to try and run a number. We will be back out testing at Castrol Raceway on Sept. 23-24th weekend and September 30th - Ocotober 1st weekend as well.

A huge crowd was on hand Wednesday night, August 16th for the Castrol Raceway's Annual "Hot August Nights" event marking the final major event for the 2006 Season. The 13th Running of "Hot August Nights" featured 2 Nitro Funny Cars, 5 Jet Cars, Alcohol Funny Cars, Pro Mods, Nitro Harley's. and a host of other Pro Cars and with a crowd rivaling the Rocky Mountain Nationals Saturday night crowd.

Randy had to match race Jason DuChene twice during the evening, but before racing began, Neil wanted to do some test runs. Our first test run was about 3:00 p.m. The car hooked up like never before and pulled the front wheels about 3 feet in the air. The new engine combination is making a lot more horsepower than our old combination so we are expecting good things to come in the future.

An awesome picture was captured by Sheryl Ogonoski of our wheel stand and was sent to Don Macgowan of Quick Times Magazine and he put it on the cover of the September Issue. Click here to view other pictures courtesy of Sheryl Ogonoski. view pictures

The race in Spokane WA. was August 4, 5 & 6th, 2006. This year it was a little different than in the past. The track is under new management, they dropped their entry fee for spectators and racers, the track itself was prepared differently. The name was even changed from AHRA World Finals to 2006 Summer Nitro Extravaganza. We went into this race with our new engine and expected great things from it.

Friday night we went to the line about 10:00 pm and lined up to run against Jeff Ganyor's car with Mike Adams driving. On the launch we smoked the tires immediately then with a quick peddle got back in it and smoked the tires again. We tried three more times on Saturday with basically all the same results. The Nitro Funny car field had 12 vehicles entered and only 8 to qualify for Sunday. We ended up qualified 11th and therefore didn't make it for the race on Sunday. view pictures

Our next race is Hot August Nights at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton where we will match race Jason DuChene at 8:30 pm and then again at 11:00 pm

After two weeks of endless headaches we were finally able to test some new parts on Sunday at Castrol Raceway. We went out and did a small burnout with a little launch, took the car back to the pits to see how the new parts were doing. Everything looked good so we did another small burnout followed by a half track launch and then shut it down. The ESP Racing team was impressed with the results and the data collected and we are now headed for the AHRA Drag Racing in Spokane Washington August 4-6th, 2006. view pictures
